Homestead Information

If you bought a Texas home (prior to 2022), that is your primary residence, you can file a homestead exemption between Jan. 1- April 30. Forgot to file? It’s ok, you may have a 2 window of grace from the time you purchased. Effective 2022, you don’t have to wait until January. You can file the same year as you purchased your home. Sounds a little confusing? Go to your local Appraisal District to get exact details for your county’s requirements.
